"Where
the Locals Eat" |
| Irving,
NY |
|
Meet
our guide and enjoy great food with local atmosphere on this progressive
meal. Start off with a homemade breakfast treat and coffee where
everybody knows everybody and you’ll soon feel right at
“home.”
Next,
shop for those famous huge bags of cookies at Petri Baking
Products. Drive over the ridge for a homemade lunch.
Stick your fork into the Blue Plate Specials.
Continue on over the next ridge for a beautiful scenic drive.
You’ll see rolling hills dotted with cows, Amish
homes, spectacular views, and little, almost forgotten towns,
along the way.
Complete
your meal with a homemade dessert. This neat diner will take you
back to the 50’s. Select one dessert: raspberry streusel
puff pastry, apple streusel puff pastry, or an ice cream sandwich.
The
last stop will be Dunkirk Boardwalk Market where
there are several boutiques including a wine store with tasting,
Irish Pub, three gift shops, ice cream shop, and fishing pier
for your enjoyment.

"Historic
Float Trip" |
| Connellsville,
Pennsylvania |
|
Float from Connellsville to the historic district
of Dawson down the Youghiogheny River
and back
through time. This float trip is a unique soft adventure that
won't just take you down the river, but will take you back in
time. Don't worry, you won't get wet! This historic tour offers
an exceptional way to experience history.
A
guide dressed in 1750's garb will navigate and narrate while you
sit back and relax. This historical narrative will follow the
French and Indian War, the Whiskey Rebellion, the Coal
and Coke industries in Western Pennsylvania, and how
they shaped our nation. You
will see remnants of these days long past and draw your own conclusions
to why this is the most important valley in the early development
of our country.
Your
journey will end in Dawson, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch
at The James Cochran/Vanderbilt United Methodist Church.
Also,
stroll the streets and tour the Washington Coal and Coke
headquarters, which have been transformed into a small
museum and gift shop.
Before
departing for home, stop at Lenox Glass Outlet for
an opportunity
to shop for that special gift.
This
Historic Float Trip is ideal for all ages. |

A
"Farmish Tour" at the Bookamer Family Circle Farm |
| Meadville,
PA |
|
This
new, wonderful tour is not Amish, but it’s “Farmish.”
From morning until late afternoon the Bookamer family,
including Ma, Pa, three boys, and three girls, will show you a
farm like you’ve never experienced. Have you ever met a
donkey with a pace maker? Ever seen an alpaca swim or a goat use
a seesaw?
This
tour has it all, great food with entertainment as you enjoy your
lunch, spinning
demonstrations, a hayride, a sawmill demo, and you can even help
make ice cream to eat with your homemade pie. How about a game
of horse shoes?
While
you’re having all this fun, you’ll be learning about
animal housing, nutrition, general care, and animal husbandry,
all from the Bookamer children.

For
the shoppers in the group, the farm market will be open with fresh
produce, homemade knitted and crocheted items, saw mill items,
and homemade baked goods, all available while listening to the
Picks and Hammers folk music band.
