Autumn
in Vermont
is an explosion of colors so brilliant and temperatures are just
perfect.
These
wonderful sights are nature at her most beautiful.
Day 1:
A
relaxing ride through Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York allows
you to arrive in Southern Vermont in the early
evening to a warm welcome at the Big Bears Lodge,
a family owned and operated mountain inn with a large heated indoor
whirlpool spa, large screened television, BYOB lounge, game room,
and friendly hospitality.
After a delicious dinner, the remainder
of the evening is at your leisure.
Day
2:
Wake
up to a hearty Vermont breakfast. Board the coach for a morning
of touring that includes an 1836 country store complex and a cruise
aboard the Mountain Mills on Lake Whittingham,
touring the beautiful, unspoiled lake and mountain scenery.
A
picnic lunch is served during the cruise followed by live entertainment.
This afternoon, visit the Southern Vermont Natural History
Museum, a maple products tour, and time
to browse in the quaint little town of Wilmington. Later, enjoy
a great dinner and a fun-filled program set in 1770 with reenactors
from The Living History Association.

Day
3:
Following
a hearty Vermont breakfast, depart for Bennington, Vermont, home
of the Bennington Museum and Grandma Moses exhibit.
See the largest public collection of paintings by Grandma Moses,
military and historical artifacts, and an unsurpassed collection
of Bennington pottery and American glass.
After lunch, tour the Old
First Church, burial place of Robert Frost. On this day,
drive around the
Bennington Monument and tour the Norman Rockwell exhibit in Arlington,
Vermont. Following another delicious dinner, enjoy an evening
of music and fun at the Big Bears Lodge.
Day
4:
After another hearty Vermont breakfast, depart for a leisurely
drive through
the Mount Snow ski area to the Mary Myers Toy Shoppe
for a tour of how those cuddly, stuffed animals are made. Stop
at Townshend Dam and the picturesque Scott Covered
Bridge.
Following a buffet lunch on the
estate’s grounds is a tour of the Hildene Estate,
the former summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln, Abraham’s
son. The Hildene is situated on 412 acres of rolling hills with
spectacular views and formal gardens.
After dinner, enjoy an evening of
Vermont folk music at Big Bears Lodge.
Day
5:
After
a bon voyage breakfast, depart for home, sweet home!
